ABC News Australia is the leading public service broadcaster in Australia, delivering news and current affairs, rolling news services and multi-platform news content to audiences across Australia and the broader region. Formative’s CEO, Gay Flashman, worked on site within the senior news team for 18 months through 2012 and 2013.
Formative worked closely with the News Executive team of the ABC to assist with the design of a restructured newsroom that reflected the changing needs of the digital newsgatherer as well as the changing needs of the audience in a multi-platform world. Current staffing and operations systems were analysed and updated to ensure that multi-platform output and content were at the heart of the daily commissioning and newsgathering process..
The ABC successfully restructured its newsgathering, production and output operations to more effectively and efficiently deliver news content with impact across multiple platforms – including television, rolling news channels, radio, online and social media platforms.
